Frequently Asked Questions
How do you work with students?
We treat students as individuals with unique goals and stories. We work to identify what they're passionate about and how they hope to explore that passion more. We meet students where they are rather than treating them like a number and as such, we create a customized coaching plan for each student. Come to us as you are and we will help you on your way to your best self!

How many sessions are included in the comprehensive coaching package?
The number of sessions varies and is determined by when coaching begins and the complexity of the student's application process.
Will you write essays with students in session?
Comprehensive Coaching sessions are meant for coaching and the delivery of college knowledge and expertise. While some time is made available for essay revisions in session, students are expected to do the bulk of writing in between sessions, so as to use the session time effectively. Hourly coaching with a Certified Essay coach is also most efficient when students do work in between sessions.
Will there be homework?
Most weeks, “next steps” are given to the student, in an effort to move them forward at an appropriate pace between each session–this will never be “busy work.” While there is some flexibility with these “next steps” students are expected to do their best to complete everything before the next session. Completion of “next steps” between sessions offers invaluable benefits!
Will you help with interview prep?
Absolutely! Students are recommended to participate in interviews whenever possible. That said, not all students will. Prior to any interview that is scheduled, they will be prepped thoroughly and will participate in mock interview exercises.
Do you help with scholarships?
Yes! Scholarships come in many different forms. In a simplified explanation, within the comprehensive package, we will spend time learning how to look for scholarships and what factors to consider before applying. From there, students will receive “next steps” to search for scholarships. As they find scholarships that they want to apply to, we will build them into our calendar of deadlines to track.
How do you track deadlines?
All students are given an electronic folder that we share. This folder holds all of our work including a timeline, college list tracking spreadsheet, deadlines, meeting notes, essays, and more. While deadlines will be reviewed regularly in coaching, students are ultimately responsible for all deadlines.
How do you measure success?
Parent and student feedback, as well as admission and scholarship results, are all measures that have shown, year after year, the success of our work. To learn more about admission results, as well as what other parents are saying click here, or take a look at STG CAC yelp reviews!
How do you keep parents updated on progress?
For students with a Comprehensive Coaching package, parents are kept up to date through a “live” document called “Meeting Notes.” This document is accessible to parents at any time and holds details about everything discussed during each session, “next steps,” and our next session date/time. Aside from meeting notes, parents are always welcome to text, email, call, or request a meeting at any time. When there are further updates beyond the meeting notes, concerns, or other pressing issues, we will also reach out to parents directly.

For students who are receiving hourly coaching with an STG Certified Coach, parents will receive a coaching log after each session. The coaching log will hold notes on what was accomplished in the session and what "next steps" should be completed between sessions.
What is your cancellation policy?
In consideration of other students and families, cancellations should be made as soon as possible, but with at least 24 hours notice. With Comprehensive Coaching, we make every attempt to reschedule students within the same week, but as deadlines approach, the flexibility for same-week rescheduling becomes more difficult.

For hourly coaching, families will prepay to schedule each session. Cancellations made before the day of the scheduled session can be rescheduled, but not refunded. Same-day cancellations will not be rescheduled or refunded.
How do we get started?
Call us to schedule your initial phone interview and Zoom consultation. Through these conversations, we will get to know your family and you'll have a chance to get to know us. We will make a decision on if it is a good fit and if it is, we will move forward with the next steps. With a highly tailored and personalized comprehensive service like ours, we cap the number of students we take in each graduating class. Space is limited and this approach ensures that all students get the attention they need.
